We are based in
the Neurosciences Department which has a web site, as does our
medical school,
and of course our University. The
BSTP Program site contains information for
prospective graduate students. Most of our department's Ph.D. students enter
through this program where they spend the first year taking a core
cellular and molecular biology course and rotating through labs in different
department before designating a thesis advisor and department. Please email our department
administrator if you would like an information package and application
materials. Our medical school program is also well-known and features an
organ-based curriculum with many opportunities to work in biomedical research.
Case Western was recently named one of the "most wired" campuses in
the country; visit the CWRUnet site to see why. Our laboratory is involved in
the nascent Biophotonics
Center, a University-wide effort to coordinate fundamental research on optical technologies and applications in biomedical
research. We also have many close ties to researchers working on clinical
neuroscience, including epilepsy, at the Cleveland Clinic
Foundation.
There are many exciting attractions immediately around the Case Western campus, including the Cleveland Art Museum, Wade Oval, Severance Hall (home of the Cleveland Orchestra with cheap "rush" tickets available for students), and the Botanical Gardens. The 121 Fitness Center, Cleveland's premier gym, is directly across the street from the medical school and has a generous discount program for University students and staff. Jacob's Field, home of the Indians in downtown Cleveland, is a short 20 minute drive or train ride from campus. Finally, Cleveland is a major hub for Continental Airlines which offers non-stop service to most of the country and (at last!) Europe.
This site was modeled after the web page created by Charles J. Frazier for the Neuroscience Department at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Software used to create this site includes:
